Information to Include
Provide as much of the following information as possible:
- Your name and email address
- Link to the listing
- Listing title
- Seller’s display name
- Seller’s phone number or email, if provided
- A description of what happened
- Dates and times of relevant messages
- Amount of money requested or sent
- Payment method requested
- Screenshots of messages or payment instructions
- Copies of receipts, invoices or shipping documents
- Any other information that may help us review the report
Do not send passwords, banking login details, complete credit-card numbers or government identification documents.
Common Warning Signs
Report activity that includes:
- Equipment that appears not to exist
- Photographs copied from another listing or website
- A price that is unusually low
- Pressure to send a deposit immediately
- Requests for cryptocurrency, gift cards or unusual payment methods
- Payment instructions in another person’s or company’s name
- Claims that equipment cannot be inspected
- Requests to communicate only outside Best Farm Deals
- A seller who refuses to speak by phone or video
- Fake shipping, escrow or insurance services
- A seller who changes payment instructions unexpectedly
- Equipment with altered or missing serial numbers
- Listings for stolen or unauthorized property
- Overpayment or refund requests
- Requests for passwords, verification codes or remote computer access
If You Have Sent Money
Contact your bank, credit-card provider or payment service immediately.
Ask whether the payment can be stopped, recalled, disputed or investigated. Acting quickly may improve the chance of recovering funds.
Keep copies of:
- The original listing
- Messages with the seller
- Email notifications
- Payment records
- Bank-transfer details
- Phone numbers and email addresses
- Shipping documents
- Screenshots
- Bills of sale or invoices
Do not delete your Best Farm Deals conversation or account while the matter is being reviewed.
Report the Incident to Authorities
Best Farm Deals cannot recover funds or conduct a criminal investigation.
You may also need to report the incident to:
- Your local police service
- The police service where the seller or equipment is located
- The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre
- Your financial institution
- Your insurance provider
- The legitimate business being impersonated, if applicable
Call emergency services if there is an immediate threat to someone’s safety.
Suspected Stolen Equipment
If you believe equipment may be stolen:
- Do not confront the seller
- Do not attempt to recover it yourself
- Record the listing link and seller information
- Save screenshots
- Contact the appropriate police service
- Include any serial number, make, model and location information in your report
Best Farm Deals may preserve relevant listing, account and message records where reasonably necessary to respond to a report or lawful request.
What Best Farm Deals May Do
After receiving a report, Best Farm Deals may:
- Review the listing and account
- Contact the reporting user or seller for more information
- Temporarily hide or remove a listing
- Restrict or suspend an account
- Preserve relevant records
- Warn affected users
- Cooperate with lawful requests from authorities
- Take no action when the available information does not support the report
Submitting a report does not guarantee that a listing or account will be removed.
We may not be able to provide detailed updates about another user’s account, investigation or personal information.
False or Abusive Reports
Do not submit reports intended to harass a user, interfere with a legitimate sale or make knowingly false allegations.
Abuse of the reporting system may result in account restrictions.
